RIP Story: October 13th, 2024

The timer has started, and I don’t have a story arc I’m interested in following. There is a concept of a forest fairy running over a pond and the water comes up to meet them in the air. Very Fantasia, but all I see is the moment the fairy steps on the elevated plate of water. I don’t want to put a person in the forest doing some meditation thing. I feel like I have that theme running in a lot of these RIPs.

There is always the juxtaposition of a calm forest floor and the pending doom of some violence on the way. Honestly, I’m “violenced” out right now. I’m watching a YouTube series on World War One at the moment, (for novel writing purposes) and it’s too easy for me to default to something violent.

It’s not a short story that comes to mind. My mind is filled with the desire to spend more time in and around nature. This time of year, the fog rolls into my part of the world. There is an ethereal look and feel when I drive to work and go for a morning walk. There is a peace around me. I see this image; the symmetry and the sounds that come to mind with this image are transportive.

I think the lesson here is that sometimes the mind needs space, and we should let the world happen around us. Not everything needs commentary. I choose to just be this morning. I hope you find some peace today.

Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow.
