RIP Story: October 2nd, 2024
Algorithms were the lifeblood of his den. T3KM0CR4T was his handle and the only people who knew his real name were dead or in this room. The pirates were on a path to war. The Corpos publicly denounced the isolated violence in different sectors of the galaxy, but they were funding the whole thing. If they were not directly paying for what happened, the Corpos provided the motivation for the pirates to be where they were.
What neither of them knew was the secret organization T3KM0 identified. T3KM0 called them The Echo and he was secretly impressed with what they did throughout the galaxy. The Corpos were too busy to notice, and the pirates thought the lost manpower was part of doing business. T3KM0 built his first algorithm to monitor pirate related news from all available services. Publicly available news broadcasts were good for the basics, but the interrogation files used by the Corpos to track down lost value across the galaxy was the best place to pull information. T3KM0 hadn’t figured out a way to get uncaptured pirate news into the algorithm, but progress was being made. For now, the pattern was strong enough that T3KM0 was positive The Echo existed and was active.
They were not yet a threat, but they were going to have more dedicated computing power thrown their direction.
T3KM0CR4T was shifting his focus to something new. A new energy well had been found and a planetary system was withing travel distance. Ships had been dispatched and confirmation signals were coming back from this system. There was life and there were minerals. T3KM0 watched the displays decipher the incoming data. Suggestions to offer the different organizations who funded his efforts started listing themselves on his screen. He pulled up his unconnected machine and entered notes based on what showed on his screens.
A new system meant lots of competing interests. It also meant lots of opportunity to show the value of what he’d built. He felt like the master of his digital symphony. He controlled his domain; he was an echo of his own exited everywhere in the galaxy at all times.
