RIP Story : May 25th, 2024
Barry was excited for the trip to Paris for as long as he had known about it. is Kahu was told they could not bring Barry with them, but one of the tall caretakers snuck Barry into a brightly colored bag. Paris was everything Barry had dreamed of. Sometimes he was looking in the wrong direction but he Kahu was so happy to have Barry along for the trip, Barry got to go everywhere. The sounds of the Metro were an unexpected surprise. Barry got to sit at a cafe table outside of a museum with a glass triangle thing. Barry wanted to try the croissant, but his Kahu wasn’t offering. Years if offering veggies under the dinner table. The moment Barry would get his food reward and his Kahu forgot about it.
Barry didn’t care, he had a good seat; looking out into the plaza where people moved around in awe of the sights.
Most of the trip was fun, but the mountainous staircase got scarier the higher they went. His Kahu had Barry facing toward the bottom of the staircase. As they climbed, he wanted to know why they weren’t on the tram right next to where they walked. At least there were walls to lean against on the tram. What if his Kahu let go and Barry fell down the stairs? Why didn’t he have a safety strap on his coat? Just as the worst paw-ssibilities crossed Barry’s mind, they reached the top of stair mountain, and the rest of that day was beautiful.
The other scary thing was the dogs in the neighborhoods looking at Barry like he was a chew toy. The cats, or Les Chats, as the French would say, at home used Barry for his pillow properties and making biscuits. The occasional jab from a claw was small price to pay. But Barry had heard from the other Stuffts about the horrors of dog’s teeth. Ripped stitching, guts spread all over the floor. Barry kept his glass eyes on those growlers. “Don’t touch the dog Kahu, you’re holding me too close!” Barry said at one point. He Kahu didn’t hear him, and the dogs were distracted.
Barry was given a pin for his jacket before they left. A little Eiffel Tower to remember the journey. He would wear it proudly and tell all the other Stuffts about it. He would leave out the story of the dog, but his grand adventure into the city of lights would be known by all the Stuffts back home.
