RIP Story : May 30th, 2024
The table was done, and Sarah was so proud. Her first gig was ready for guests. The last piece was the cake her friend had been hired to make for the party. A local ladies club were throwing their yearly spring Friendsgiving party. Sarah had reached out 4 months prior when she saw the yearly schedule posted on the outer wall of the club. She had finished filing her business license with the city that day. She cold-called the office and asked if they needed any party services on their calendar. Most of the bid parties already had vendors. There was one event that needed a new planner.
Sarah met with the club President and Secretary. She had all her notes, including the note about needing a new cake maker. She didn’t have the details, but Sadie, the Secretary let it slip that there was “quite the scandal” with the cake last year, and that “options for spring cake makers were being explored.” Sarah asked her friend Sydney to make a sample platter for her storyboard meeting the following week.
The day had arrived. The tables were laid out, and the decorations were on full display. Sydney arrived with the centerpiece cake in her van along with the extra sheet cake to be served as extra. Most of it went to spouses and children back home, but that didn’t matter to Sarah or Sydney. The two girls worked together to bring in dessert. The caterers arrived, and Sarah’s job was done. There was clean-up to be taken care of after the event, but the moment Sarah had been waiting for was here. She watched as the ladies of the Dabbington Ladies Local had their Friendsgiving Spring Celebration.
She was proud of herself for finding her first job on her own. She was hopeful for the business cards that left with each guest and she was pleased to have her name on a list of approved planners. The road was unknown from here, but the first step had been all Sarah could have hoped for.
Thanks for reading, see you tomorrow.
