Game 14 - Rockies @ Blue Jays April 12th Game Recap
I’m Sick and Have No Brain Power
The game started ,well enough. The Blue Jays had a lead and Gausman was getting swing and miss. The Jays even scored a run in the first inning with two outs and no one on base. These are the things we have been waiting to see. Then the swing and miss started to be barrels to balls for the Rockies. All I can say it that Gausman had a short spring and he might still be on, build into season form. The Blue Jays gave up 12 runs in this game and the way the offense is playing right now, twelve runs will take 3-4 games to reach. However, there was one graphic in game that sums up the Blue Jays season so far.
The Jays are good at having good at bats. They have some of the best at bats in the league. When they get the ball in play though, it’s weak or it disappears when there are runners in scoring position. DOES THAT SOUND FAMILIAR??? The Jays have shown flashes and the players and managers have said all the right things but how many games can we see the same level of performance from last year and not just conclude this is the identity of this team?
A series at home against the Rockies is a series the Jays must win. I will hold judgement until after tomorrow’s game. One April series does not make a season but I feel my openness to faith in this roster starting to ask questions. This team is terrible when they press at the plate. This graphic tells me they start to press when they get runners on base. OR, even worse, that they situationally choke almost every time there are runners on base. Figure it our boys, the Pitchers are starting to lose the battle on the knife’s edge.
Season (6-8) Player of the Game: Daulton Varsho (2)
Season PotG: WINS: Biggio (1), Schneider (1), Turner (1), Kikuchi (1), Berrios (1), Bassitt (1) LOSSES: Springer (2), Varsho (1), Kiermaier (1), Schneider (1), Bichette (1), Garcia (1)
The Rest of the East
Tampa Bay (8-6) - They Won.
Baltimore (8-5) - April 11th: Huge 10th inning gets them the win. Probably playing the Red Sox closer than they would like and the bats are not as hot as they were in the first few series of the season. They get the sweep against the Red Sox and really draw a line in the division the bottom three teams will have to find a way to cross.
April 12th: They Lost.
New York (10-3) - Game Postponed
Boston (7-7) - April 11th: The games were close, but they lost all three games to the Orioles. This was the question and as much as one series of three games can answer, the Red Sox are missing that extra little that gets them to a victory in any of the games they were in position to win.
April 12th: They Lost, to the Angels. Could be worst, they could have lost to the Rockies at home.
Hopefully I kick this cold and have the mental energy tomorrow. Thanks for reading.
