Goals Under Review - Calgary Flames @ Los Angeles Kings

Calgary Flames @ Los Angeles Kings

The Flames must win all their games to make the playoffs. The Kings are trying to take the lead of the Western Conference, let’s see what happens.

I feel bad for the Flames. I’ve been following their games for a few weeks now and it seems like they are always playing a team that is playing for a bigger prize. I’ve not seen enough Flames hockey this year to diagnose what led to them not being in the playoffs. Winnipeg is setting a lot bar and Calgary is just running into tough teams.

By the time the Kings scored their fifth goal, the game was halfway done, the Flames had 1 goal on 9 shots while the Kings had 5 goals on 19 shots. How do we manipulate the formula to equal a Calgary win? It doesn’t feel like there is a formula to equal a win for the Flames today and watching this game, their path to the playoffs may be rooted more in a Winnipeg collapse than the Flames pushing for the 8th spot in the west.

Maybe there are a lot of new players on the team and they need to play a year together before they become the team the front office had in mind when they made these trades and signing. Maybe there are players having bad years and they just need to get it out of their systems. I hate to be the one looking to next season it just doesn’t feel like it’s going to happen this year.
